KIPCO – the Kuwait Projects Company – has announced that it will be a Strategic Sponsor of the 6th Youth Empowerment Symposium (Tmkeen). The event will be held under the auspices of H.H. the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, on October 23-25. This is the third year that KIPCO supports the symposium.

KIPCO and its Group companies support a number of Tmkeen activities throughout the year. This includes hosting the Tmkeen Youth Circles, a series of closed-door sessions held in collaboration with the Dubai-based Arab Youth Center. During these sessions, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to interact on a personal level, discuss the challenges that they face and how to tackle them.

KIPCO and its Group companies also collaborate with Tmkeen on the KIPCO Tmkeen Award for Young Entrepreneurs, in its third edition this year. The award aims to shed light on the growing young business community, and support them through US$ 100,000 in services provided by KIPCO Group. This year, cash prizes are also being awarded to the top three winners. The ‘Startup Battle’ between the finalists will take place during the Tmkeen symposium before a live audience and the winner will be announced at the closing of the event.

Speaking at the press conference announcing the upcoming symposium, Ms Eman Al Awadhi, KIPCO’s Group Communications Director said:

“At KIPCO, we strongly believe in in the important role that the private sector must play in order to support the growing SME sector and the diversification of the local economy. This is reflected in our collaboration with Tmkeen in the form of sponsoring the symposium, launching the KIPCO Tmkeen Award for Youth Entrepreneurs and supporting the Tmkeen Youth Circles.”

She added:

“We are delighted to be sponsoring the Youth Empowerment Symposium for the third year. The partnership that we have forged with Tmkeen has allowed us to better understand the needs of young people who aspire to set up their own businesses, and has facilitated our interaction with entrepreneurs who seek to build more sustainable businesses. Through our Group companies, we have been able to support these young people with our collective expertise and know-how.”
